"I do not insist that my argument is right in all other respects, but I would contend at all costs, both in word and deed, as far as I could, that we will be better people, braver and less lazy, if we believe that one must search for the things one does not know..." –Socrates (Plato, Meno 86b)
Welcome!
Thanks for joining me in the search. This site offers access to some of what I pursue as a researcher and teacher of philosophy; it contains resources for both students and colleagues. Broadly, I am trying to figure out how the world is and how we are such that reconciliation is possible – reconciliation with ourselves, with other individuals, with communities, with the divine. I look at what enables and what disrupts our thinking (character, mood, and desire, for example), tracing the contours of human receptivity and belonging. My path into these questions is via phenomenology, psychoanalysis, and ancient philosophy.
